If you prefer your science "outside the textbook" then you'll want to look at Elemental Science. Use the book to review material already studied, or as additional explanation or clarification of current lessons. With over 350 pages, a glossary, and complete index, this book makes finding information quick and easy. ![]() You learn the difference between association (or relay) neurons and motor (or instruction) neurons. The graphics do an excellent job of showing the interaction between nerve cells and how the chemical neurotransmitters work at the synapse between the cells. The book shows and describes the parts of the neuron including the cell body, the dendrites and the axon. For example, the biology section includes a subtopic covering the nervous system. Every page has excellent visuals and concise explanations of scientific laws and principles. We've come to expect compelling color pictures, graphics and charts from Usborne, and this book does not disappoint. The physics section is divided into mechanics, heat, waves, electricity and magnetism, nuclear physics, and general physics. ![]() The biology section includes ecology, botany, zoology, human biology, genetics and general biology. The chemistry section contains subtopics for general, physical, inorganic, organic, and environmental chemistry. Each area of focus features color-coded subtopics with significant detail.
